Core calculations run locally on your device. Optional integrations, including direct Garmin sync in Run Analytics, transfer only disclosed data after explicit consent.

Yes. The apps read the workout and health data already recorded by your Garmin, Apple Watch or Polar device and recompute advanced sports-science metrics from it. You do not need any extra hardware.

Is my health and training data stored in the cloud?

Core metrics are calculated locally, and most apps work without an AnalyticsZone account. Optional integrations vary: Run Analytics direct Garmin sync uses a secure backend only after explicit consent. Each app privacy policy explains the transferred data and available controls.

What advanced metrics can AnalyticsZone calculate?

Critical Power and W′ (anaerobic capacity) for cycling, Critical Swim Speed (CSS) for swimming, running training load with CTL, ATL and TSB, VO₂max estimates, heart-rate variability (HRV) and gait metrics such as walking asymmetry and double support time.

How is this different from the app that came with my watch?

Stock apps mostly display the numbers your watch records. AnalyticsZone applies sports-science models (Skiba’s W′ balance, critical-speed testing, performance-management charts) to turn those numbers into actionable training metrics, with explanations of what each one means and how to use it.

Are the calculations backed by peer-reviewed research?

Yes. Every model in AnalyticsZone traces to published sports science. Critical Power and W′ use the balance model described by Skiba et al. (2012, Int J Sports Physiol Perform). Critical Swim Speed follows the 400 m + 200 m time-trial protocol of Wakayoshi et al. (1992, Eur J Appl Physiol). Training load (CTL, ATL, TSB) is derived from Banister’s impulse–response model (1991). Gait metrics such as walking asymmetry and double-support time use reference ranges from published rehabilitation research (Menz et al. 2003, Brach et al. 2008). No proprietary formulas, no black-box scores.
